
Meet Dr. Alicia Booker-Cormier PhD
Dr. Alicia Booker Cormier is an internationally recognized conflict resolution expert, organizational ombuds, executive coach, and educator with nearly two decades of experience helping institutions and leaders navigate conflict with clarity, confidence, and fairness.
She currently serves as Principal Ombuds at Baylor College of Medicine, where she provides
impartial, confidential, and independent conflict resolution support to a community of more than 9,000 students, faculty, and staff. In this role, Dr. Cormier partners with senior leaders to address complex organizational challenges, facilitate consensus-building, deliver targeted climate interventions, and strengthen institutional culture through fair process and effective communication.
Dr. Cormier is the Founder and CEO of Corporate Confidence, a consulting and coaching firm specializing in conflict confidence, leadership communication, and the design and evaluation of ombuds and employee voice systems. Through her firm, she has designed, launched, and piloted ombuds programs for nationally recognized organizations, including Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Stanford Research Institute, and the U.S. Green Building Council. Her work bridges research, practice, and leadership development, with a particular focus on helping organizations proactively manage conflict and build resilient cultures.

She holds a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis from Nova Southeastern University, where her research focused on competencies of ombuds in higher education. She also earned a Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution and a Graduate Certificate in Executive & Leadership Coaching from Southern Methodist University. Dr. Cormier is a Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner (CO-OP) through the International Ombuds Association and a Certified Mediator, with additional certifications in facilitation, research ethics, and investigative practice.

An experienced educator, Dr. Cormier has served as adjunct faculty and guest lecturer at institutions including Southern Methodist University, Nova Southeastern University, Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas at Austin, Tennessee State University, Lipscomb University, and multiple academic medical centers. She is frequently invited to deliver workshops and keynote presentations on conflict management, leadership communication, disruptive behaviors, DEIB-related conflict, and employee voice systems.

Dr. Cormier is a published scholar and national presenter, with articles appearing through the International Ombuds Association and the American Bar Association. She has been featured at national and international conferences and has delivered hundreds of trainings across healthcare, higher education, nonprofit, and corporate settings.

A respected leader in the field, Dr. Cormier served as President of the Board of Directors for the International Ombuds Association (2023–2024), representing over 1,300 members across 51countries. She continues to serve on boards and advisory committees committed to advancing ethical conflict resolution, leadership development, and fair process.

Through her teaching, coaching, and consulting, Dr. Cormier is known for her practical, compassionate, and research-informed approach—helping individuals and organizations build the confidence to address conflict skillfully rather than avoid it.
